Lo & Behold – Prince of Vedic astrology is here!
As we have learnt about the thinking pattern of a person, by studying Moon in a horoscope and discovered how an individual’s mental state can be deciphered in seconds of time. Now comes the part of understanding the fuel of the Mind. That is none other than the intelligence, aptitude & logics. Which drives the chariot of the Mind & consequently distinguishes every one of us. This department in the council of ministers of Vedic astrology has been given to Mercury with the title of prince. Let’s have a look at all the areas which are governed by Mercury in an individual’s life, something which I found true in my research on numerous charts
- Mercury represents the nervous system of human body and is the significator of intellect, quickness of thought, logic & aptitude in Vedic astrology. Anxiety is primarily checked from the condition of mercury in the horoscope. It also represents speech, communication & sense of humor. A well placed mercury could make a person blessed with an excellent vocal talents & an affliction could result in speech impediment or bad communicative skills
- It also represents writing skills or skills of hand and is the main representative of sales, marketing, advertising & publishing jobs
- It’s a very curious & playful planet, which like an archetype prince wants to hop around at different places for fun & experiences. Promiscuity & multiple relations could be seen from the affliction to mercury as well in Vedic astrology
- Mercury along with Saturn is the main planet of commerce & trade. It’s very calculative & very good with any occupation related to finance & numbers
- Mercury has a neutral gender & along with other combinations (House/ sign/ conjunction/ nakshatra) plays a major role in affecting an individual’s sexuality. It plays a major role in the charts of Homosexual & lesbians
- Same like Moon, it’s a very fragile & impressionable planet which imbibes the qualities of the planet conjunct with it or aspecting it. It acts best in Earth signs as it makes the intellect practical, realistic & grounded. Which is better than its placement in water (emotional), air (philosophical) & fire (intense) elements
- It rules three nakshatras – Ashlesha, Jyestha & Revati, where all of them are extreme in their respective fields (Based on house & planet placement). Influence of Ashlesha makes someone a voracious eater, miser & deceptive (many suicides or catastrophic events have taken place while moon transiting this nakshatra); Jyestha influence makes the person vulnerable to jealousy, revenge & vindictiveness (though protective towards weak & underprivileged), high image consciousness, exaggerated moaning & groaning; Revati is the apex of gentleness, civilized behaviour, sophistication, nutriment, luck & wealth
- As the planets equivalent figure in family & relationship is concerned, it majorly represents the sister in an individual’s chart
- Generally astrologers say a combust Mercury loses its innate qualities of strong intellect in a horoscope, which I won’t completely agree as its always 28 degrees apart from Sun & is naturally immune to Sun’s heat & harshness
Now coming to the part of advising its remedy in case of appeasing the affliction or strengthening its good effects. Wearing emerald gemstone, feeding pigeons & donating money to eunuchs remain very helpful but the king of solution remains to be taking refuge in obstacle remover, heavy belly Lord Ganesha & worshiping Him with riveted faith
